Copper slag is mainly used for surface blast-cleaning. Abrasive blasting is used to clean and shape the surface of metal, stone, concrete and other materials. In this process, a stream of abrasive grains called grit are propelled toward the workpiece. Copper slag is just one of many different materials that may be used as abrasive grit. Rate of grit consumption, amount of dust generated, and surface finish quality are some of the variables affected by the choice of grit material.
It is also called derusting sand which is widely used in sand cleaning, rust removing, strengthening, forming, stress relieving of casting, forging, machinery, metallurgy, heat treatment, steel structure, grid structure, container, ship, bridge and other fields, as well as surface cleaning and coating of various profiles, roughening pretreatment before electroplating
Product Parameters
Copper slag (Iron Silicate) abrasive has a HIGHER DENSITY THAN COAL SLAG (~20% HIGHER) AND WILL THUS BLAST FASTER THAN COAL SLAG, AND YOU CAN RECLAIM IT A COUPLE OF TIMES AS WELL. Copper will therefore result in less product consumption, less disposal cost, and overall, a more cost-effective media to use when compared with garnet, aluminum oxides, or crushed bottle glass, or coal slags.
Copper slag is a hard, cubical, and aggressive sandblasting media. Contrary to its name it contains almost no copper!
